THE APPEAL OF IRINA KOZULINA TO THE WORLD COMMUNITY
November 27, 2006
Today the life of my husband Aleksander Kozulin depends on each of you!
He has been on hunger strike for 39 days today. The hunger strike is against the existing dictatorial regime of the illegitimate president A.Lukashenko. A.Kozulin was sentenced to 5/5 years in prison for his political convictions and personal courage to challenge the illegitimate regime.
Belarus is facing a constitutional crisis. The situation with human rights is critical. The United Nations’ Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Third Committee adopted a Resolution on he situation with human rights in Belarus. I am very grateful for this step forward and the support.
My husband is convinced that only Security Council of the UN can influence the situation in Belarus. It is a member of UN and is obliged to fulfil the decision of the Security Council. Therefore A.Kozulin appeals to G8 countries to propose a statement or a resolution on Belarus to be made by the UN Security Council. Resoluteness and determination of just one country, its loyalty to values will be enough to make a big difference in the situation in Belarus.
Today I appeal to you with urgency to do your best to save my husband and to help my country. If the world community if deaf to the appeals of my husband he can become another victim of the Belarusian regime.
Say “NO” to the Belarusian dictator Lukashenko! Help to release political prisoners! Rescue my husband! I rely on your values and spirituality that go must go beyond short-term interests.
Sincerely,
Irina Kozulina.
