Presidium of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada). STATEMENT

Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) is one of the first Parties organized in the newest history of Belarus. On the 2nd of March 2009 BSDP will have its 18th anniversary. BSDP is also one of the first Parties in its origin. Party is assignee of the Belarusian Socialist Hramada (1903–1918) and Belarusian Social Democratic Party (1918–1924). Party continues traditions of Lutskevich brothers, Alaiza Pashkevich, Maxim Bahdanovich, Yakub Kolas and other famous predecessors. BSDP is responsible to the present and future generations of Belarusians as well as to founders of Belarusian social-democracy.

In Belarus values and ideas of social-democracy are shared by Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada; Organizing Committees on creation of Women’s Party “Nadzeya”, Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Narodnaya Hramada), Belarusian Party of Labor. At the same time there is a sharp necessity in the consolidation and unification of Belarusian social-democrats. We as Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) repeatedly announced about this necessity.

Presidium of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) supports the initiative of Vitebsk Regional BSDP organization (December 2008) on Belarusian left Parties consolidation. Presidium proposes to all of the supporters of social-democracy in Belarus to make some concrete steps towards to consolidation and unification. BSDP (Hramada) is sure that this process will be supported by leaders of European social-democracy as well as by Party of European Socialists and Socialist International leadership.
